Hello Diver Nation! My name is Kristi Curd, and I am the Business Manager for the Lake Preston School District. Prior to accepting this position in 2015, I represented our community on the Lake Preston Board of Education. I truly loved serving on the school board because I believe in this school and what we have to offer the students, faculty, and community. I graduated from South Dakota State University and recruited for the Jackrabbits during my very first year out of college. However, my professional experience primarily comes from the fourteen years spent working as office manager for a local manufacturing company.
I was born and raised on a dairy farm half-way between the towns of Walnut Grove – Westbrook, Minnesota. I met my husband Kevin while attending SDSU. When Kevin and I were looking for a place to call our own, we fell in love with Lake Preston. Because of my rural roots (and my husband’s love of all things country) we wanted to find a community that shared similar values to ours. We took the plunge, bought an acreage, and moved to the rural Lake Preston area over twenty years ago. Now, we have four phenomenal children who will all graduate as Lake Preston Divers: Nicholas: Class of 2020, Morgan: Class of 2022, Benjamin: Class of 2026 & Allie: Class of 2029.
I am a competitive person who loves all types of athletic competitions. However, softball, baseball, golf, volleyball and football are my favorites. Okay, and bowling, too. I grew up a Minnesota Viking and Twins fan, and I will die a Minnesota Viking and Twins fan. I enjoy coaching both softball and golf for the Divers. I am active at the Lake Preston Lutheran church as a Sunday school teacher, music director, and youth group leader. I love interacting with kids of all ages, which is why working at the Lake Preston School District is such a treat for me. One of the biggest benefits of my job is witnessing the education of our future leaders.
